How to lose weight and keep it off?
I know - diet and work out. But what kind of diet works best? I am addicted to carbs...I dont think I could go a day without them, I also love salty foods such as chinese food and soups. Im not big on chips and snacky foods like that...so pretty much any diet that I can eat carbs will do. I also used to work out a lot, but I just havent latley. I would be happy to start again, I already have a plan that works for me but I seem to lose inches but not weight. Can someone please help? Im almost 20, 5'6", and weigh around 190 pounds. I know it sounds like a lot, but I dont look it. I actually look like I weigh about 160 - 150 pounds. Im a size 15 and I want to be a size 9. Any suggestions? Please no negative feedback.

- I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far. I lost 105 pounds in my first 6 months. Here is how I did it. 1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism. 2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed). 3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water. It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me. Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!! http://www.calorieking.com A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out. http://www.caloriesperhour.com/ Check out my before and after pic at my yahoo 360 page http://360.yahoo.com/my_profile-sDavxh02dLTh0eY_tDNPXRGnYw--?cq=1 Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk. Good LUCK!
- Eat less. Exercise more. Eat an amount and exercise an amount that you can live with every day for the rest of your life. Otherwise, it's a "diet" (as the media defines a diet.) And diets don't work. Period. And don't worry about your weight. As long as you are exercising at all, and your muscles are not atrophying, what is happening to you means that you are losing fat and/or gaining muscle. That's a good thing. It means you are getting healthier. That's what you should worry about. Paying attention to the number on the scale is nothing but obsessive and vain.
- Healthy well balanced meals are the perfect way to commit to a healthy lifestyle. Losing inches is actually great and I have heard from doctors that it actually matters more than losing weight, but, If you would like to lose weight than you would need to eat balanced meals with fruits, veggies, proteins, nonfat and lowfat dairy products, and whole grains. I recommend you go to www.thebestlife.com *it costs 50 dollars for 3 months but, it is a great site that has really worker for me. you should try it. it gives a menu plan with a shopping list and you can talk to expert nutrtionists and trainers for fitness advice and such!! and also communicate with other people who are also trying to lose weight. they are a great supposrt system) it is a website by bob green who is oprah's trainer and I belong to his website. His approach is eating in a realistic way that allows you to treat yourself every now and then but, eat nutritious foods. You do not have to totally eliminate carbs, you have to keep things practical to where you can commit to this type of lifestyle. It is not a fad diet. Here is an example of a 1500 calorie menu : Breakfast- One serving of cheerios with one cup of nonfat milk, strawberries, and 1/4 cup of almonds Lunch-One bagel with cream cheese and peanut butter with a kiwi and a cup of carrots Dinner- Fiesta Salad: Toss together Romaine Lettuce, Brown Rice, Avocado, Black Beans, and Olive Oil. Top with Fiesta Salsa. Snack 1- 1 1/4 cup of milk with raisins Snack 2- An apple dipped in riocotta You can treat yourself once a week (at least that is what i do) and eat sometihng you really love. For example:an ounce of dark chocolate, not only is it tasty but, it has antioxidents that are good for you!! Try to deduct 500 calories from what you would normally eat and then try to burn an additional 250 calories with exercise (you could go on an hour walk daily or run for 45 mins of so, or anything other form of exercise) *Good luck, best wishes.
- What worked best for me was when I just ate at the table....For some reason it made me feel fuller and I ate slower and therefore didnt eat as much. There are plenty of foods that taste amazing, they dont need to have tons of carbs, fat, or sugars to taste good. Try out different foods, amybe you'll find something that you like. And then once you start losing weight it just seems easier and you become more motivated to eat healthier because you know you can lose weight that way.
