  1. thats too little to eat. you'll lose weight by eating 1200 calories a day.
  2. yes but it would probably be unhealthy. I did that and lost 8 pounds in 5 days, but it really messed up my metabolism.
  3. yea i think that diet will work
  4. The pounds yes, but over a long time.....Would take a few months at least. The inches? Probably not. Usually need high end cardio to burn the inches off.
  5. You will mess up your metabolism within a few days. You CAN'T, I repeat, CAN'T lose weight without exercise.
  6. you can loose weight but you will still be jiggly
  7. you will lose weight, but eventually you will hit a plateau with out exercising. and you will lose the inches, but they will just be fat, you want to exercise to trim up the fat.
  8. maybe, maybe not. The ONLY WAY YOU LOSE WEIGHT is if you burn more calories than you eat. Period. If you eat less calories but don't burn more, your body will actually slow its metabolism down and try to negate whatever benefit you're trying to get by eating less. You really need to exercise! It will greatly accelerate the weight loss and make you look better too.
  9. If you don't move at all you won't lose weight quickly.
  10. yes but you should consume at least 1200 calories because your body needs a lot of calories just to function( walking, heart beat, etc) just eat 500 calories less than you eat normally and you will lose a pound a week , more if you exercise
  11. Realistically, you should not eat less than 1000-1200 calories a day with or without exercise. Eating that few calories will cause you to lose muscle not fat.
  12. no. you must exercise to loose weight. even a little bit a day, but just don't give up.. :)
  13. Check with your DR.BECAUSE you need at least 1200 calories to exist.
  14. Yes you can - but, you could die too! Check with your doctor and make sure you exercise, also.
  15. yea, but it's not a good. after a while, your body will adapt and start storing the calories from what you eat because it think's you are hibernating. that might be a drastic decrease in your diet as well which isn't the best idea. instead, eat the same amount of cal/day that you are now, but spread it out to 5-6 meals a day. this will def help your metabolism. You can also slightly decrease your overall cal/day and get better results. starving won't help out in the long run
  16. what you need to determine first is how much calorie would you need to keep the weight you are on now, http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blcalcalc.htm then from there you must take in fewer calories than what your daily intake should be. You need to burn off more calories than what you take in a day, so exercise would actually help more.
  17. Oh, definitely you can, but you'll encounter a small little problem though: you'll be inching towards anorexia. I heard that the human body needs to consume a MINIMUM 1000 calories a day. Just eat and exercise. No pain, no gain.
  18. u can die from eating 800 calories a day. u will end up in the hospital hun.
  19. You can definitely lose weight by limiting your caloric intake to 800 a day, however it is not advisable. Your resting metabolic rate, or in other words, the amount of calories you burn over a period of time without doing anything is likely higher than 800 per day so this is why you're likely to lose weight initially. However, by restricting your food intake in such a drastic manner, you may be depriving yourself of vital nutrients that contribute to your overall health. Losing weight in theory is easy. You simply have to consume less calories than you burn in a day. Depending on your weight, age, gender, and a variety of other factors the amount of calories you should consume can vary greatly. You should aslo take into consideration the source of the calories. Fats, protein, and carbohydrates all contain a certain amount of calories per gram. Fat contains 9 while carbohydrates and proteins contain 4 calories per gram. Do some more research on overall nutrition and health. Nobody who has access to nutritious food should consider living on 800 calories a day. You will no doubt be depriving yourself of vital nutrients.
  20. You can...but I wouldn't recommend it. That's a very very low caloric intake for the average adult body. Eating that little will likely slow your body's metabolism so that you'll lose weight at a much slower rate than otherwise. See, what people don't always understand is that our body's propensity for gaining weight is a survival mechanism. Extra body fat is used to insulate the body and help protect vital organs, but most importantly it's used as a backup energy resource. When we have extra calories, the body thinks "Okay, I've got all the energy I need for the day, but I have this extra stuff here...I'll put it in storage for when I need it next time." The thing is that since fat is a reserve energy source, it's typically the last source that the body uses. The first source is typically the carbohydrates, which is why low-carb diets can be so effective. But I digress. Part of this survival process is the body's "starvation mode" that kicks on in an emergency. When there's an intense calorie deficit, the body thinks that there won't be any source of nutrition/energy coming in anytime soon. This sets off alarms that cause it to squeeze energy out of every source it can--once again, saving the fat for last since the fat is an energy reserve that it doesn't want to use except in dire emergency. The first thing it will do is get every bit of energy out of every calorie that is taken in. Counting calories isn't always as simple as it seems for this very reason. The end result is that your body's metabolism slows down dramatically so that it doesn't use up the caloric intake so quickly and doesn't have to starve to death as it thinks is happening. This becomes all the more urgent when there's little to no exercise, since exercise and movement is one indicator to the body that things are going okay and that metabolism can resume normally. A lack of exercise is like a signal to the body saying that not only will there be no energy coming in, but it won't need it as much because you're not moving as much. So it will run on the bare minimum needed to keep it going for the current energy level. Doing a regular exercise routine will tell the body that it needs to keep up the metabolism despite the lower calorie intake. Again, having that low of a calorie intake will SLOW your metabolism, not speed it up. You want your metabolism to go as fast or faster than usual, and that means exercise with a moderated and balanced diet to keep things going properly. Best of luck!
  21. you can, but it won't last.. yes it will be back.. and might get bigger if it returns. You have to find a long term--better yet.. a lifestyle that will help you lose weight. Like it or not, exercise is the key. A life without exercise may lead you to be unhealty. Think of it this way, if you do sit-ups 30-50times x 3reps a day or walking an hour a day, you'll benefit from it faster than just eating less (which deprives you from vitamins & minerals that your body needs). Building muscles in your abs will help you burn fat faster and keep it that way without feeling deprived. You can also eat anything as long as you keep it in moderation. Good luck!
  22. when only eating 800ish calories a day, your body will "think" it is starving and lower its metabolism. so I'd say exercise would be important in keeping your metabolism up. this is what i do. just be careful.... listen to your bod and make sure that the calories that you do eat are highly nutritious and take a multi-vitamin daily!
  23. well actually you need to have a test done to tell you how many calories you need to consume because if you consume less then your spose to then you will burn less calories instead of burning more
