How to lose inches


How many inches can I lose in my lower tummy in one month with excersizing and eating right?

I'm not fat by any means, but there's this thing just sticking out in my lower tummy. And no, it's not just for summer vacation. I plan on working on this as a long term project. So please, don't critisize me.

  1. its impossible to "spot train". Just keep eating healthy and exercising and the weight will eventually go away. In my family, that little pouch is heredity. Everyone, even my skinny little sister has it. I don't know if thats the case or not but just keep up the healhty lifestyle and I'm sure it'll go away. =]
  2. Being a Martial Artist and fitness trainer for over 20yrs now, one thing i will say, is that you cannot 'spot reduce'. Just think of your body as a snow-covered field, and as the sun shines the snow melts from all over the field. This analogy is similar to you aerobically exercising, when you go for a 20-min run/swim, etc... your body burns fat from all over your body, and not from one spot - e.g. if you do ab crunches for a minute.. No. But you dont say how old you are, and if you've excercised before or not... and i'm assuming you are female by the words you use in your Qstn?! If you're starting out, and have no medical or physical problems, there are a number of 'detoxes', or light healthy eating plans, etc, which you can do to introduce your body into the routine of losing the inches you want rid of. How many inches or lbs you lose will depend upon the types of exercises and how many times you do them, plus the types of foods you eat too. If you're a healthy, say, 14stone person, you could easily (and healthily) lose a stone in one month - possibly a little more depending on your diet/exercise rate. The 'average' is around 2-3lbs/week safely... but i've done 10lbs in a week.. only coz i knew what i was doing, only coz it was short-term (fight), and never made a regular thing of it. So you could do 4-5 aerobic sessions per week (combo of runs, swimming, rowing/bike/stepper machines), all of 20mins+ at a steady pace, to get into fat-burning territory. Do abs-work to tone your tummy too, but pair this with Dorsal/back extensions to balance the body properly... and if you can, fit in a couple of circuit-training sesh's with light weights (20reps per bodypart) to tone your body, as this also burns fat more efficiently, even when you are resting!! It wont make you muscular, like Arnie or too heavily toned like Madonna.. but will give you a lovely toned shape for those sleeveles tops, and bikini's for the summer/beach too. Go for it!!
