If I wore a sweatshirt & sweatpants while walking/jogging would I lose more weight and inches off my belly?

versus wearing shorts and a tshirt. Common sense tells me I would lose more whatever-calories, inches etc.---So u r going to have to convince me w/facts otherwise.

  1. You will lose weight - water weight. You will gain it back when you drink water next. It's not healthy to dehydrate yourself.
  2. I saw one of those weight loss suits in Wal-Mart this week-end.
  3. well duh that will make you hotter which will make you sweat more of your water weight off. its the same way a sona works
  4. you will sweat more...and therefore lose more water weight. to lose more actual fat i would run with weights as sweats might be damn uncomfortable
  5. u sweat more so drink more water but its also not that healthy.. its like wrestlers wearing a full body suit that surfers wear in the cold.. with sweats on and jog which is mad unhealthy but u wana be cool just drink water and do crunches as well and watch the food
  6. You will sweat more if you do this, but as soon as you drink liquid, the weight will be right back. Other than the tiny bit of extra weight you'll be carrying around, it won't do anything to cause you to lose *fat*. It's VERY likely that you could overheat, and experience heat exhaustion, which is NOT fun, and land you in hospital.
  7. Well, you might burn more calories overall, but in general you cannot "spot reduce" fat off of anywhere on your body unless you of course get liposuction. Your body determines where it loses fat and inches from. For example, you may see all these ab-machine commercials saying you can lose however many inches in a week from their machine but the truth is...you can train your ab muscles all you want, but that will not simply get rid of the layer of fat covering your abs. Following a healthy diet and at least 5 days a week of cardio and resistance training will help u lose fat and tone up. When you are sweating you are losing water, thus if you weighed yourself you would probably be lighter but that is only temporary. What you are looking to lose is fat. When you lose fat, you dont have to actually immediately lose pounds on the scale. Fat may weigh less than muscle but it sure takes up way more space throught your body. Hence the slight weight gain people get worried about when they start incorperating weights in their routine. But in answer directly to your question, no, you would not lose more inches or weight off of your belly, you will lose fat and weight from all over your body. If you keep up with a good routine you will look great im sure! Good Luck!
  8. No - how hot you get only determines how much you sweat, not how many calories you burn. You'll see a temporary reduction in weight and inches due to the extra sweat - but your body will need that fluid back, and will get it (or you'll become dehydrated). This is the same concept that people have used for years with the "wraps" - you will be smaller temporarily from the fluid loss...but it's not a loss of fat. The only way to lose more weight is to burn more calories, and that comes from increased use of the body, not increased temperature surrounding the body. But hey - if that kickstarts your routine and you're not sending yourself into heatstroke, go for the temporary fix. Just make sure you replace electrolytes.
  9. To clear things up, sweatpants and sweatshirts are made for comfort. Mostly because the best time to jog is early morning while the sun is first rising. The sweatsuit would keep your body's heat while you sweat. It is not meant for weightloss. Jogging suits for daytime are like track suits. Furthermore, sweating within sweatpants and sweatshirt would, yes, make you sweat more. Not in a good way, you would have to rehydrate and not much loss anywhere, just more acne from the pores being irritated with the fabric. So, exercise is just the best way for weightloss, sweating regular, not being excessive by overheating (sauna). The sauna should be used for therapy of sore muscles and joints. I hope this helps, have fun jogging!! :)
  10. that is exactly correct oh just a hint before you put on the sweat clothes put on plastic wrap everywhere
  11. your temperature will go up causing u to sweat more, but it would just b water, its not fat. it would b countrproductive to think of it as weight loss, cuz it would always come back, plus u would b dehydrated.
