Losing weight from butt, theighs, and waist?

I am 18 and 130 pounds. I really need to lose some inches off my theighs, butt, and wasit. Is diet and exercise going to do the trick or do I have to target those specific areas by weight lifting, and doing crunches, etc.

  1. Dieting and exercising those specific areas is want you need to do.
  2. You cant target fat lost in specific areas. If you want to tone/strengthen then muscles, the you can do weights and crunches. However, cadio is what is going to slim you down to a smaller size. You dont need a "diet" just be smart. Eat healthy, well balanced, never skip meals, dont snack unless you are hungry (needing food and wanting food are different, cravings does not mean hunger) Drink plenty of water, it helps with hunger along with other things Exercise - cardio is great to tone/slim the legs, and will help the upper body as well. Swim, run, bike, dance, anything you enjoy that gets your blood pumping. Remember, to lose the flab, you have to burn more calories than you consume.
  3. When your body loses weight, it loses it from everwhere in your body at once, so general excercise will make you lose weight from everywhere. Excercise to specific areas will only stimulate muscle growth in those areas, as opposed to losing weight specifically there.
  4. i do pilates four days a week and it works amazing. it tones you and makes you feel great. buy a video and do it at home it is quick and easy and gives you a great body.
  5. Do dumbell deadlifts and squats. Do 8-12 reps for 3 sets, with a 2 min rest in between. Over several weeks gradually increase the dumbell size so you start to use more weight to build muscle which will burn excess calories to give your body the 'tight' look. Do this regimine every three days, or when the soreness of your legs diminishes. For crunches, I would recommend do 3 sets of how ever many you can do initially, then subsequently upping your reps over time so thatyou can reach a goal of 3 sets of 50 - or more if you feel you are able. Do the crunches 3-4 times a week. Additionally, try the treadmill for 10-15 minutes before you start the dumbell work. This will give you added cardio work and flood your legs with blood in preparation of the upcomming weight work. Also remember this - if you hit astumbling block in terms of bodyfat loss, expend more calories thru exercise than you consume in diet. Over time you'll lean up faster and look better. Stay away from pop, junkfood and processed -ready to eat- foods in the supermarkets. Drink a 1/2 ounce of water for every pound of body weight you weigh. Build up to your water goal over a period of a week and continue for several monthes. Ive been consuming 120 ounces for several weeks and my bodyfat is melting away. It'll work for you too. Good Luck
