How to lose inches

How can I lose inches just around my stomach by summer? I'm not skinny but not fat. I just want to even out. Say lose about five to six inches by summer. Details are apreciated! keep in mind that I do yoga and go to curves three days a week Thanks but I like to eat- is that such a crime? I can not go on a cleanse! I have to eat whatever my mom cooks. Give me a diet for a teenager!

  2. Critter, You have more than enough time to prepare for summer styles. The best way to improve the way your middle looks is to diet and exercise. One without the other is totally useless and a waste of time. Now unless you live on junk food you probably only need to make a few minor changes in your diet. Don't totally cut out carbs from your diet. They are necessary for energy. Instead of the normal white colored breads and pasta look for ones that say 100% whole grain or 100% whole wheat. That 100% is very important other wise you are basically getting caramel colored white bread. Have up to 4 serving a day. You will find that with 100% whole grain breads you will stay full longer through out the day. Unflavored oatmeal without sugar or butter is also a great diet product. You can have up to 3 servings a day. Make sure that you get enough raw and cooked veggies into your diet - just no sauces or butter unless it's a special occasion. Never leave home without first eating breakfast. They have found that people who eat breakfast eat approximately 20% less during the day than those who skip breakfast or have a donut and an energy drink. Whole grain toast, oatmeal or eggs stay with you a while and are good options. When having dairy products opt for low fat or no fat products. If you check calories you will see that you can save about 40-50% by choosing wisely. Now on to the exercise side. You want to make sure that you are doing some type of cardio. Brisk walking, swimming, playing tennis (singles not doubles) or racquetball are good as is TaeBo. TaeBo is also a lot of fun and will also shape your body as you burn fat. The fat burning is important because you could have the greatest abs but no one will know it if they are covered in a layer of fat. Then do specific ab exercises like the reverse bicycle. This exercise is better than crunches since it works more ad muscles than crunches do. Also practice holding in your stomach while breathing normally. Start with holding for 15-20 seconds for 5 times. And do this 5 times a day. Then hold your abs in longer and more frequently during the day. Although this is a simple exercise and can be done anywhere most people don't take advantage of it. It really can work wonders. Also use your abs more during the day to help you pull yourself up to a standing position if you have dropped something. This is also great if you decide on doing a few toe touches. It will work both your upper and lower abs. If you move a bit to the side of your foot while bending down you will also work on the love handles. If you learn to make very simple changes to your diet and fitness routine you will see results fairly quickly.
