How to lose 70-80 pounds reasonably quickly?
How long does it take to lose around 70-80 pounds. I am currently 15 years old and weigh between 252 and 260 pounds. I would like to do it in about 8-12 months - is this possible? If so, what do i need to do, i.e. calorie levels, excercise per day. I do go to the gym normally 2 times a week with some weeks going on an extra day too - but due to revision ive only managed to go 3 times in the last 3 weeks. I normally run/jog for 15 mins on the treadmill at 7.5km/hour, then row for 5-10 mins and then cycle for 30-40 mins plus a few extra 5-10 min excercises. Normally I burn around 500-700 calories each time i go to the gym. Can I also build up muscle at the same time? If so how many sets and reps should i be doing with weights and how heavy should the weights be? If it helps, my height is also about 5 foot 11 inches or about 180cm. Idon't want to go on a diet I really want to improve my lifestyle so that when I come off the diet i won't regain the weight. Request more info if needed How Many Calories Should I Be Eating a Day? Because on food labels it only says adult males 2500 kcal - but im only 15 so wouldnt it be different? thanks alot - andy? and how many calories should i burn a day to burn off 2-4 pounds a week with the calorie intake?

- do a lot of exercise (8 hrs a day if possible) dont eat junk food or soda or bread
- do like me , eat what da hell u want and workout , my body still super fine
- no more soda & fast watch your calories
- woooaaah your well tall lucky !! just cut out all the unhealthy food like junk food, and fatty foods and eat a fairly balanced diet ... no more than 2500 calories a day its not just how much you exercise its your diet tooo
- It takes burning about 3500 calories to get rid of a pound of fat. Losing 2-3 pounds per week is a good, healthy goal. So, about 30-40 weeks. You will notice you are getting thinner along the way. Diet and exercise are the way to go. You have to have a healthy lifestyle and diet if you want to maintain the weight loss. Good luck.
- You are pretty overweight and looking to lose a lot (good for you) and at your age, you should make a plan with a doctor. They can make sure you are doing this the right way. They'll help you come up with a diet and exercise plan that will work for you.
- I'd say try to lose about 6 lbs. every month.
- You need to change your diet completely. You will not lose the weight you are seeking if you do not regulate your eating. Your body will have a hard time responding to just workouts. Its your body, it's the most important tool you have so you have to feed it right. You are more likely to lose weight on a diet then just working out. Make sure you are getting plenty of protein, hardly any carbs and no fats and sugars. I am on a medical diet and this is the best way I have ever lost weight. It stays off and it will save your life. Do not skip meals, this is so important. You must eat every few ours. This keeps your metabolism going. no matter how much you might hate it 6 small mini meals a day is better then 3 normal size meals. Load up on the dark greens, fish is awesome and as far as rice, pasta, potatoes, breads go... leave them behind. A healthy plan for weight loss is about 2-4 pounds a week. At first you will lose more and then it will regulate. You should sweat everyday. Not 3 x a week. Workout so you sweat every single day. Do not do heavy weight lifting you need to do light weights in high reps. This will burn fat and tone. You do not want to bulk up. Make sure you are not trying to lose weight faster then this. Expect it to take at least a year. The first 6 months will be faster then the last 6 months. If you lose weight to fast you lose a lot of muscle around your heart and it can lead to problems worse then weight. Good luck. If you need more help u can email me.
- I got my wife these recordings from a company on the internet called Independent Achievement Productions. Our doctor recommended them, as they had been working for many of his patients. She started about a year ago....listened for 30 minutes a day for 2 months..and now she has lost weight on a regular basis by just not wanting to eat more than half on her plate. Really worked for her and her sister. Worth looking at. Good Luck.
- Don't "diet" - revise your meals. Eat small amounts more often throughout the day. Eat bigger meals earlier (breakfast or lunch) so that you don't sleep on the food. Try to eat less carbs and fats, but don't eliminate them completely. Don't starve yourself. Come up with a 1 to 10 scale of hunger, and with 10 being absolutely starving, try to eat only when you're around 6-8. Stop eating when you're comfortable - not full. As for exercise, the exercise you're doing is great, but more times per week is essential. I'd say make sure you exercise at least 4 times per week. If you can't, be sure to at least have a 20-30 minute walk on the days you can't, because it will keep your metabolism up and running.
- You're definately on the right track. I'm no fitness expert and still get confused at times myself, but I have done a lot of research in order to improve my lifestyle and make more healthy choices. I don't think it will take you as long as you think it will to lose the weight if you stick to a plan. Guy's lose weight a whole lot faster than girls and even though they say the safe amount of weight loss each week is around 2lbs... but the fact of the matter is if you're eating healthy and eating what your body requires, and you're working out then your body will do what it wants and lose what its going to lose whether that be more or less than 2lbs a week (but i would imagine more if you're sticking with a plan). The whole point is to be healthy and make this a lifestyle which you have already expressed that you want to do. My guy friends started noticing huge changes when they started to weight train. So I would definately put that into your work out routine. Have you noticed a difference from the changes you've made already? If not then start looking at how many calories you're taking in. Best of luck to you and make sure during this holiday season you stay focused.... overeating and skipping trips to the gym isnt worth it. You're 15 and have so much ahead of you.... make the changes now before you get any older so that you wont look back and regret not sticking with it. :)
