Cutting carbs, running daily and still not losing weight or inches. What is wrong?
I am 26 yr old female, 5'7 and 160 lbs. I am trimming down for my wedding in September. I have cut most white carbs and switched to whole wheat. I have also added low fat proteins in all my meals. I am running about 2 miles/30min a day. Although I am seeing a change in muscle, I am not losing weight or inches. What am I doing wrong?

- Consume less calories than you are burning.
- Make sure you aren't eating too few calories because that will put your body into starvation mode and slow down your metabolism. Otherwise, give it time because it sounds like you are making healthy changes that will help you lose weight. Muscle is denser than fat, so if you improve your muscle tone, you will lose inches.
- It's called calorie control. You can't just cut stuff without counting the cals of the other stuff you're eating. Weight loss has 3 fundamental pillars. Balanced nutrition, calorie management, and exercise. You gotta do all three for long term success. And the last two for short term.
- Have you forgotten to take carbonated beverages out of your diet? Just because they're made with splenda doesnt make them good for you and doesnt make you skinny. Ever see a thin person drink a diet soda? Most of the time we see people drinking diet and see that they're trying to cut carbs and calories....but does the fat person drinking diet soda ever get skinny? There are a lot of chemicals in low carb foods that can harm you if you arent eating naturally. Start drinking more water and eating more organic. Have you added greens, other veggies, and fruits to your diet? These all have cleansing properties that will aid to your weight loss too. Also, how you percieve weight loss is important. When our brain thinks we're "losing" something, its used to trying to find that thing and keeping track of it. So instead of saying lose weight (which is a trigger to your mind) say, "release weight" or "get rid of" Sorry this is so long. Those are some pointers I've discovered from losing over 50lbs myself.

- This is hilarious. You and I are the same height, and yet you are what I want to weigh, yet you want to slim down. You sound like your within your healthy weight range hun.
- You need to move your body for at least 20-30 minutes to stop burning blood sugar and start burning fat. So you will never burn fat running on 30 minutes per day try walking for an hour or longer non stop. Also low carb low fat diets do not work for anyone so don't feel bad. Only the same things that worked 100 years ago still work today none of these new aged diets ever work if they did who have they worked on? You can see the little tiny letters going along with every weight loss plan that says may not work for everyone. You need to increase your fruits and vegetables intake, you need to eat salads before meals and you need to go back to eating the foods you love because ur gonna gain weight if you fight your cravings for too long it causes unnecessary stress. For more tips on how to lose weight that actually work check my site there is a link to it on my profile. PS good luck with your weight loss 160 is way high for 5'7'' you should be way down in the 100-115 range.
- Make sure you are not consuming too many calories. If the calorie count is in check, consider breaking up your meals into smaller portions. That is, if you eat 3 times a day, break up that food into 5 meals. Light breakfast, light snack, small lunch, small snack, small "dinner". Also consider upping the intensity of your workouts and adding doing some light weight training before cardio.
- Try not to worry so much about calories. you are on the right track with the low carbs but try 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fats. or even ower on the fats and higher on the proteins. Eat more often each day but less at each sitting. shoot for 5-6 meals per day spaced evenly appart. this will increase your metabolism. Also try and add some mild resistance training. Muscle actually burns more calories than any other body composition even while sleeping.
- Well, according to the rough calculator at the link posted below, you are burning off about 253 calories when running your two miles. As said by the others, your calorie intake may be the sticking point for weight loss. Edit: Sorry, forgot to state that you need a caloric deficit of about 3500 calories per week to lose one pound.
- Check out this site. They offer a free E-book on weight loss that might be able to help you.
- Give it time! September is still a while off, and it sounds like you're making a lot of healthy choices. Since muscle weighs more than fat, it could be that you've lost fat but gained muscle to make up the difference. The added muscle will help raise your metabolism, even when you're relaxing, and you'll begin to notice changes in the way your clothes fit before you notice it on the scale. At 5'7", you're still in your healthy weight range. You should never eat less than 1000 cal/day, because you're body does go into starvation mode and your metabolism slows way down. Also, you should NOT weight 100-115 lbs, that would only be appropriate if you were between 5'-5'3" tall.
