- You're good on the cardio :) Maybe try to speed it up or do it fast/slow in intervals. As for the lifting, you WILL get tone but I suggest lifting weights for MUCH longer. Like 40-45 minutes. You'll see results in NO time :)
- pilotes is working for me
- 1.) Eat cereal for breakfast. 2.) Jog. 3.) eat only a half cup of rice and some other food. 4.) eat vegetables and a bowl of soup on your supper
- Up your cardio to 5-6 days a week for 45-60 minutes. You will only maintain your weight doing 3 days a week.
- Diet is everything. Diet is more important that the training. That said, I'll assume you have healthy eating habits. If you have hit a platuea you need to change things up. Instead of doing steady state cardio try doing intervals. Doing high intensity intervals will kick start your motabolism and you will burn more calories than steady state cardio. You didn't mention what type of cardio you are doing. I will assume walking/running on a treadmill. The way to perform intervals... Run as hard as you can for 30 seconds and then walk for 1 minute. This would be a 1:2 interval. If you are not in great shape, this will be very difficult to sustain for 20 minutes. You may need to do 1:3 or 1:4 or even greater until you are in shape enough to perform 1:2 intervals. You are doing the right thing lifting weights. Have you incresed the amount of weight you are lifting? Lifting heavier with fewer repetitions will build more lean muscle mass and this will, in turn, increase your motabolism. It also matters what kind of lifting you are doing/what muscles are being activated in your lifts. If you are only doing barbell curls your not doing much to activate much muscle. Perform lifts that hit most muscle. Perform squats, lunges, deadlifts, bench press. And change the order. Do the lifting first, the cardio last or move the cardio to the off days and only lift 3 times a week. You have to change things up if you want different results. And don't worry, lifting hard will not turn you into a muscle head. It will increase your muscle definition and reduce body fat. In short, you'll get "toned".
- I think the problem a lot of people run into is getting discouraged that they aren't seeing results. It is a sloooooooow process. It takes a long time to really change your body. Keep doing your thing, be persistent.
- Seriously think about doing cardio 5 days a week, isntead of 40 do 30-35
