Why am I losing weight but not inches?
I've so far lost about 5.5 pounds over the last 6 weeks. I've been working out a ton (cardio 5x a week and half an hour of weight training 3x a week) and eating extremely healthy, so my weight is dropping. However, I am not losing inches! I measure every week and my hips, thighs, and stomach is the exact same as it was before. Plus, my jeans fit the same, if not tighter. Why is this so?

- it might be that you are not only losing weight but that you are gaining muscle mass at the same time, this might mean that you stomach, hips and thighs are as large, if not larger than they were before because they are becoming more toned that may also be why your jeans are feeling a bit tighter don't worry about it though, gaining muscles generally looks alot better than just losing weight
- My guess would be that a good bit of it could be water weight- and the other thing I've noticed when losing weight is that I seem to lose it from my face first. I know that sounds odd- but I wonder if you won't start hearing from people that your face looks different. It may not be something you notice yourself in the mirror but other people will see it. You're doing great- keep at it!
- it will take at least 8 weeks for the body to begin to change. right now you may be losing water mass. have you checked your body composition (muscle mass compared to fat mass)? also, dont be concerned with "losing weight". focus on losing fat mass. remember, muscle weighs more than fat and burns more calories even when you are resting, so you dont want to lose that. are you getting enough calories? it may sound crazy, but if you dont eat enough while trying to lose weight, you can stay the same size or even gain fat. your body does this as a response to being in "starvation mode". your body will reduce muscle mass instead of fat to provide you with enough energy. Good Luck!
