How to lose inches


If I walk for an hour everyday, can I lose inches off my waist?

I mean, do I need to do hardcore training to lose some inches off my stomach? Or is walking just as effective?

  1. walking is great for you. instead of a casual walk, i'd amp it up to a power walk without stopping. basically work up a little bit of a sweat. if you want to see results even quicker, add some ankle and wrist weights. you'll be surprised. keep in mind that healthy food choices also play a big part.
  2. Walking is great. I don't care what people say. Walking is one of the best exercises for you. Alot of people say run run run..although running is good..walking will keep you in just as good of shape. You just have to walk a little longer than you would have to run, but its worth it.

  4. Absolutely. I watched my aunt walk 1 hour per day for 8 months. Every day - no matter what. Nothing else. 75 pounds. Unbelievable. I just want to drop 20-25 and I cannot get off my computer! :)
  5. Yes, it will help. But if you want to lose maximum inches off of your waist, you should try some abdominal exercises. But by walking you should see results.

Walking is a good start, but after a few weeks, your body will adapt and you'll have to do something with more intensity (walk faster, start running, go up hills, go up stairs, but not in that order). Don't use wrist weights, if you want to increase your intensity, go faster. You don't want to introduce momentum into the equation. If you truly want to lose inches, you'll have to do some weight training (I can refer you to free sites, email me). By building muscle, you'll burn more calories when at rest, and it induces bone remodeling, which is good for when you get older for preventing osteoporosis. Remember to stretch afterwards.
  7. Walking is definately a great start, and very good for you. To see maximum results I suggest you: Add ankle weights, do intervals (5 minutes walking, 2 minutes running, 5 minutes walking, etc for example) or add stairs/hills into your walking route. Good luck!
