- Nothing. You can't "get rid of fat" in any specific area. You can gain muscle in the areas of your choice, but fat storage is a biological support process. Years of evolutionary preference has taught us the optimal way to shed fat from our bodies. Your body must elminate fat equally from ALL areas. To do this, you must lose weight by eating less calories than you burn every day. A good rule of thumb is to multiply your weight by 11 (10 if you're female), and eat about that many calories per day. Don't do any "well, I worked out today so I can eat this chocolate bar on top of my normal amount of calories." Fad diets are BS. To lose weight, calories IN must be less than calories OUT. As normal, excercise good nutritional habits.
- I don't know who Arcygenical is but take it from me, I am a non-competing bodybuilder. You can get rid of fat. You reduce fat by exercising. You lose fat while gaining muscle is the key. If you couldn't lose fat, celebrity fit club, which has health professionals advising people, wouldn't be able to weigh and measure reduction in body fat. I went from 160, I was thick as hell in the butt and hips but I had a flat tummy. I am only 5'4 so I went down to 114lbs of lean muscle 17% body fat and achieved my 6 pack. Some things you can't lose. I will always have hips and a butt because I am genetically "a pear". If you couldn't eliminate fat there wouldn't be bodybuilders or athletes. Does John Cena look like he's sporting fat? Losing fat happens when you activate your muscles increasing lean muscle, which pushes the body fat out of the way. I have a BA in sports management and I was Pre Med. Take my advice: Start running, lifting weights. You can't target one specific area to eliminate fat, but you can target specific areas for muscle. Look at Ronnie Coleman's Biceps and Quads - unbelievable. But chicks can build muscle as well. We can't do it like men, but we can achieve toned looks like Serena Williams. Think and train like an athlete. Do variations of crunches, reverse crunches, sit ups, pelvic tilts, side bends, modified crunches, push ups etc. You have to target your whole body. The place you gain weight/fat first will be the last and hardest place to remove the "excess baggage". Don't forget to watch your diet. check out bodybuilding.com they have articles and great advice. check out their forum and ask the pros and the non competing fitness buffs like me.
