I am losing inches NOT weight on the scale... HELP!?
So, since January I have lost 13" from around my body and I look/feel slimmer and healthier. I do Bodypump x2 a week, plus 2 other one hour aerobic/toning classes and walk on the treadmill. My worry is that the scales have not changed at all. I know that I am building muscle and that is heavier than fat, but if I see the DR my BMI = obese. He told me I had a big problem with my weight yet I am healthier than I have been for a long time. Help!!!

- Muscle weighs more than fat. Simple as that.
- If you are losing inches but not weight, then you are losing fat. You are making progress, but it takes time. Congratulations on your progress, but don't get too preoccupied with the number.
- Keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like it's working. Your weight should come down in time -- it's healthiest to lose slowly, anyway, unless you have special circumstances that make your need urgent. Watching the scale doesn't make it happen any faster. Make sure you're regularly challenging yourself by mixing in different exercises and upping the intensity (weights for bodypump, speed/incline for treadmill) of your workouts. And work on your diet if it's not healthy. You want lots of veggies, a bit of fats to keep you satiated, and protein to sustain all that muscle. Salads with beans, cheese, egg, or meat toppings are perfect. Diet and exercise together work better than either alone. Congratulations on your work so far!
