How to lose inches

Pregnancy Weight Issue and Other?

I'm about five foot four inches, I've been a vegetarian my entire life, and I'm obviously preg; 22 weeks and five days along. I'm also 18 years old (no comments about age please, I was married before getting pregnant regardless). I was pregnant before this and we didn't know until I had lost it. Y-Y I had gained a little weight from it and had not lost it. So I weighted maybe about 120 or so before our wonderful baby girl. The mid-wife I'm seeing hasn't said anything about my weight (152 lbs) and says I'm healthy. I know everyone is different, I don't look like I've gained that much. She also meassured my belly and though I was 32 weeks along. I'm not sure what to do. I would like to keep the weight under control but I honestly can't afford to eat that much as is being a vegetarian. I don't understand where 32 lbs can come from. How will I ever be able to lose it? Also I started leaking at 12 weeks?! Is my body just crazy or...?

  1. Honey before you beat yourself up....RELAX!!! You are pregnant. The doctors say a woman should gain about 30 lbs during their pregnancy. It's normal. I have a friend who gained 50 lbs and lost it all. Everyone is different. I only gained 15 lbs, but I was heavier when I got preggers. So don't be too hard on yourself. Just exercise as much as you can and continue to eat healthy and you'll be just fine. Eventually you'll lose it all and be back to your normal everyday skinny. But while you're preggers don't worry about it too much. Just hang in there only a few more months to go.
  2. It is probably just normal for you. I am in the same boat as you. I am not a vegetarian but we eat extremely healthy. I realized it was that my body was holding a lot of water. You can't notice by looking at me but if you can press down on your shin for a few seconds and the skin does not pop back up right away, you are prob holding water, which is not abnormal or unhealthy.
  3. I gained at least 60 pounds during my pregnancy and I lost it all before my daughter's first birthday. It didn't take much effort either, it'll probably fall off. I'm young too, 19. Good luck! Oh yea, and I would ask your doctor about the leaking.
  4. YOu need to realize that the weight you gain in pregnancy is mostly fluids, extra blood supply and baby stuff. It's not you getting fat, it's the extra weight your body needs to support this baby and the pregnancy. You will be fine!! Don't obsess over this. Just be aware.
  5. I, too, was worried about weight gain when I first became pregnant. I am now 37 weeks pregnant with my first and have gained 34 lbs. My doctor says this is completely normal! Most women lose 20lbs before they even leave the hospital...from the baby, placenta, afterbirth, fluid, and water. Don't worry about your weight...your doctor will make sure to tell you if they think there is a problem with it! Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck! :)
