I have been excersing and eating less than 2000 calories, and I still cannot lose weight.?
I am hypothyroid also, taking vytorin for cholestrol and quit drinking diet pepsi( for over 4 weeks). I am walking at least 20minutes or 1 mile everyday, eat healthy foods and low cal, low fat. Why can't I lose even 1 pound. I am 45 years old, I don't have the best knees, 2 surgeries each. I think that I have lost inches, but not 1 pound has come off. Help!!!!

- The average woman needs to consume 1,200 calories to begin losing weight. How often are you exercising?
- drop it down to 800 calories ,,, you can eat a lot even on that ,,, and you will lose ,,, I get fatter on a 2500 cal. diet
- Sometimes it just takes awhile for that scale to move. Depending on your current weight / height, 2000 calories may be too many in a day for you to start to lose - try taking 200 calories away per day for one week to kickstart your metabolism. Make sure you're eating breakfast to get your metabolism going and are eating throughout the day - don't make the mistake of saving all your calories for 10pm snacks as that's just begging for your body to store them as fat! Remember that muscle weighs more than fat (but takes up less space)- which may be the reason that you're losing inches but not weight. Really focus on how your clothes fit and not what the scale says. I know that's easier said than done, but it's really the best advice anyone can give. One last thing...check and see how much sodium you're eating in a day. Sometimes high sodium foods (such as soup) can cause you to hold water and make that needle on the scale stay put.
- OK! for a women is hard to loose weight after 30, try not focusing on calories instead focus on fat, I know is hard to loose weight but try to add to your diet a supplement like Hydroxycut Hardcore or Hydroxycut Max and multivitamins, you can go to GNC for that. I started on Hydroxicut Hardcore yesterday and I already lost 1 1/2 pounds, and I eat Breakfast, lunch and dinner (before 7pm).
- It's really hard to lose weight when you have hypothyroidism..believe me, I know. I've had it for 7 years now, and it's a constant struggle. Here's a few tips... 1) your metabolism slows down by 2-3% every decade after we reach 30 years of age. The best way to fight this is through weight training. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism will be at rest. 2) Instead of focusing just on your weight in pounds, keep in mind that the exercise you're doing will help with your cholesterol. Try walking for 45 minutes instead of 30. 3) Keep a journal and write down everything you are eating. I think we underetimate our calorie intake. For example, I was drinking coffee with that flavored creamer..and then realized it had 35 calories in 1 tbs (I was using at least 2). I wouldn't have guessed I was consuming 70 calories in 1 cup of coffee. Writing down your calories really helps...try 1200-1400 a day. 4) It's important to eat foods that satisfy you. I think feeling hungry is the main reason people stray from their diet. Eat protein in the morning, along with some fiber. You need to keep your blood sugar steady, and that's the best way to do it. 5) Make sure you're checking your thyroid levels every 6 months. If your TSH is 5 or above, losing weight will be impossible. 6) Get yourself a good multi vitamin that supports metabolism. Certain minerals and vitamins help when you have thyroid trouble, like chromium, magnesium, iodine, and L-Carnatine. DO NOT take weight loss aids..they aren't recommended for people with thyroid disorders. 7) Don't get discouraged...you're taking control of your health..and you're headed in the right direction. If you need ideas on what to eat, or menus..feel free to email me. Good Luck!
- Okay before you get discouraged, you need to step it up a little bit! Going down to 1500 Calories will help. Smaller portions too. DO NOT skip breakfast, drink more water, and DO NOT eat after 6:00 PM. Those three things with exercise and you will loose the weight girl! Change your habits, I did. Limit salts, starches, and saturated fats (grease). Eat more fruits and veggies and foods high in protein!. This sounds extreme but YOU WILL GET RESULTS~ No potatoes, breads, or cheeses. Just a thought for a meal plan. Do a slim fast for breakfast, a lean cuisine for lunch, and a salad for dinner (with no fat or light dressing) A dressing can WRECK a salad. If a salad is pushing it and you want something more then eat tuna on wheat bread with a fruit, or a chicken breast or fish. They are high in protein, and will keep you full to fight the snackfits. Get a tape measure and start a diary. Measure yourself. Chest, Stomach, Abs, Hips, Thighs. If you can, in that diary, log what you eat. You will see inches drop before fat loss. I did. I weighed 168 and am 5.5. I have been doing that and loss 30 pounds. I went from a 14-16 to a SIZE 8. Dont get d-motivated. Keep going and you will find what works for you! DONT GIVE UP!~ Your body can only fight fat loss for so long. THE KEY IS PERSISTANCE, DETERMINATION, and WILL POWER! All of us women are beautiful and have a tremendous amount of potential and strength. Getting and Staying fit isnt a diet, it is a lifestyle change. It is those lifestyle changes that helps us KEEP the wieght off! I hope that this has been an inspiration and motivating to you! Good luck and God Bless you! You can do this!
- Really, if you are eating just under 2000 calories a day, you aren't going to see any change. Start easier and try 1500 calories a day. If that doesn't seem like enough add a salad or lots of veggies to each meal - they are pretty much free foods. Eat 6 small meals a day - 2-3 oz of lean protein, as many veggies as you like and either 1/2 cup of fruit or carbs. DRINK WATER - at least 8 - 8oz glasses a day As for meats keep it to fish, egg whites (not yolks)turkey or chicken (breast meat only - the dark is full of fat) with the occational lean red meat (like once a week). Nothing fried. Limit your oils and when you do use it use olive oil for cooking and flax seed oil for salads. Cut out as much sugar as possible (none is best) and cut out salt. Salt is the biggest thing that will keep the weight on for me. I don't add salt to anything and I even have to buy no salt added veggies when buying canned. Breads/pastas etc. If you must have these during weight loss make sure you are buying high fiber whole grain versions. I like Dutch Country's Double fiber wheat bread. It's soft, but packed full of fiber and nutrients. Pastas - There are some really good ones out there. If you have time to wait for shipping, www.fibergourmet.com has some great ones. If you need to get it at the store go for Barilla Plus or Ronzoni Smart Taste. Ronzoni is my favorite. It tastes just like regular white pasta but it has at least 3x the fiber, and it has the same amount of calcium as a glass of milk. If you can avoid pasta and bread that is even better. Instead eat brown rice, barley, baked potatoes. Exercise: You need more exercise. Up your walking to 1 hour a day if possible. If you can't do that much time then you need to add in some weights, aerobic exercise, pilates, or swimming. After 35 it is much harder to lose weight. Your metabolism is dropping and your HGH levels are getting lower so it is harder to build muscle. That is why you need to work so much harder.
