How to lose inches

How do you stay motivated to lose inches/weight?

I've tried many times too lose weight by limiting snacking and excess eating, but I can't stick with it! I exercise a lot but my poor eating habits have me still gaining weight. How can I change?

  1. Get an acerbic friend to call you names.
  2. someone once said to me "its easy to gain 2 pounds a year, imagine yourself in thirty years... 60 lbs heavier" I always think of that and i do not want to weigh 60 lbs more it keeps me motivated
  3. *sigh* you just need to learn self-control. You may need to examine your diet habits...maybe you just need to try increasing protein and whole grains in your diet and reducing sugar/fat...spread your meals to smaller meals several times a day. You may be getting hungry all the time and eating the wrong kind of food because you get so hungry and can't control yourself. So snack frequently on healthy food that will fill you fast like protein/whole grains.
  4. I joined weight watechers three years ago, after a long time friend saw me for hte first itme in afew years... and at my heaviest weight ever. I was saddened by their reaction. Three years and 50 pounds later, I keep motivated by focousing on the "wow" faces I get every time I see people that I haven't seen in awhile!
  5. i know. but i remember that im doing it to look and feel better.
  6. you need to make a threat to yourself......"if i am still eating this way at this point in time then i will-------" be creative....like shave my head or or shave my eyebrows or eat something really nasty :] and stick to it!!! dont cheat! if you dont complete your goal then you have to follow through to discipline yourself and that way you will really start to work in fear of your threat :] good luck (and the eyebrow thing was just a suggestion)
  7. Eat healthy snacks such as apples, oranges, peaches and bananas. Not all snacks are bad!!!
  8. Motivation is within the state of mind. So you have to find a way to change your paradigm. You're too comfortable with yourself, and once you're satisfied with yourself, you lose motivation to exercise. There are self hypnosis CDs by Christopher Love. http://www.amazon.com/Give-Rise-Exercise-Self-Hypnosis/dp/B000EZVX5W/ref=pd_sim_m_1/002-7977419-6324805?ie=UTF8&qid=1183686127&sr=8-3 It also helps ALOT, to work out with someone who is in much better shape than you. It gives the constant reminder of how far you are from looking really good. What has really motivated people around me, and myself, is... breaking up with that significant other or simply being more active in the singles' scene. The possibility of romance is the greatest motivator, but being comfortable with one partner is a huge unmotivator. Oh! and the best pusher for me was when people (especially the opposite sex) started noticing. It really comes down to breaking your self satisfaction. You have to be "hungry" to really hit the gym hard and make a difference.
