How to lose inches

help me lose inches.......?

hey there! i need all you fitness buffs to aid me lose some inches and excess body fat... i have a flat feet and a practically redundant ankle joint so 'running' is completly out sadly (i did cross country when i was younger so this is annoying!!) is cycling enough to lose some inches, and i was thinking of buying some free weights to do weights at home but not sure what to do...!? any help would be apprieciated people!

  1. As a competitive swimmer I would have to promote swimming! The water completely carries your weight so there's no stress on your ankles and its a complete body workout instead of just your legs. I would say join a gym, they have so many different types of equipment and you want to start on machines to get your muscles revved back up first. In the gym there's nothing to distract you from the weights and their's more motivation from others.

  3. Swimming is major. Running around the lap pool (instead of swimming) is really hardcore, because of the resistance; your muscles and your body has to push harder off the ground and use more explosive power to move faster in the water. Try doing that for cardio. The water is soft on your ankles and it's okay if you have flat feet -- good on your knees too. Free weights. Now, depending on your current strength, you could start with 10 pound dumbbells. You can go to the gym and get some pointers on different exercises and types of lifts from people there, or from instructors there. Remember, the more muscle you build the more calories you burn... even while you're sleeping. And building muscle will help you lose weight, and doing that with cardio will make your fat-loss even faster. Don't rely on the scale -- you might be losing fat but gaining muscle-mass, and the scale'll tell you your weight is remaining the same. As for cycling, yes. It will help you lose weight since it gets you moving. But, unless you're standing on the pedals and going, you're not moving much anything else or using any other muscles other than your legs and part of your core. Swimming on the other hand, pretty much exercises every muscle. God Bless yo!!!
