How to lose inches


If you loose inches off your body are you just loosing water weight or is some of it fat?

I went on the cabbage soup diet (HARD!) for a week and lost 8lbs and 7.75inches total off my body.

  1. Most likely, you only lost water. To really lose fat, you need to have an exercise program when you burn calories instead of just decreasing your caloric intake.
  2. I think you may have lost some fat. 7 inches is a lot. unless you are retaining a lot of water, which is not all together impossible. Unfortunately you will get it back once you come off of that diet. You need a better plan for long term success. reasonable meals and exercise will give slower results but will serve you better.
  3. I would say water. To lose fat, you need to follow a long term diet....and a cabbage soup diet is not a good long term diet...and excersize program. The combination of less calories and added muscle will really pull it off and increase your metablolism. You'll want to make sure you have some weight training put in with cardio.

  5. Most of that would be water weight and lean muscle. I doubt you lost a lot of fat, maybe a pound or so. It takes time and effort to lose fat because your body doesn't want to give it up. When you go on a low calorie/starvation diet you're actually working against yourself as your bf% will hardly change. Then when you go back to eating normally, you will regain all that weight you lost plus a little more. The secret to losing the weight and keeping it off is to eat sensibly and exercise. It will take time, but it's also the best way to keep it off.
