Can I safely lose two inches in my waist within 6 months by dieting and exercise? I am 40 years old, will turn 41 in January. I currently weigh 220 lbs.; 5"10.25 height; waist size is 36.75 inches; and I used to lift weights. I do not lift weights anymore,but I will start once I can run 1.5 miles without stopping. I can run the 1.5 mile in 14 minutes, but I have to stop and walk. As far as my diet, I am not drinking sodas, I drink plenty of water, and as of August, I stopped eating sweets (When I go home for Xmas, I will have to eat mom's chocolate cake), I have not had a drink of alcohol since Feb of last year. I try to limit eating out as much as possible and when I do, I try not eat a lot of fast food. I want to get down to a 34 inch waist. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Weight gain with inches lost on a diet and exercise program? My wife is on a diet and exercise program. Simple calorie counting along with daily exercise. This week she did Pilates four days and walked until fully out of breath on one. When she measured today she was down or equal inches in all areas. Overall she was down almost two inches. I want to lose inches from my lower body, can anyone help me..? Well, my body is weird, if someone looked at my upper body, (waist up to head) he would think I m quite slim.. But the problem is, my lower body is kinda "fat".. It's not really fat I guess, since the shapes of muscles are distinguished; It looks like muscles that have been stretched and relaxed or something. Just my body "design" I suppose.. Now the question is: Is there any exercise or anything that can make you lose inches from butt to ankles? I 'm looking for a way to make me look thinner on the lower part, without making any obvious difference to my chest, etc.. Im working at becoming a model, and overall I eat pretty healthy and have a normal matabolism, but I find that the only thing keeping me back from becoming a model is that I need to lose 3 inches in my butt and 2 in my hips and basically tone. Every day I do 2 sets of 76 sit ups and 2 sets of 51 side crunches ( I don't know if thats the official name for that but whatever) . So far I've lost 3 inches in 6 weeks. But I know the rates slow down So please help me and tell me what is your estimate is of how much time (weeks-months) it will take to lose those 2- 2 1/2 inches. For the person who answered second like I said I'm trying to gain muscle so that will affect me losing weight so you can't just say 10-15 pounds since I will be gaining muscle weight too. Best way to lose inches and weight? Been working out regularly since October and have a personal trainer. I plan on asking her this as well but want to get as much feedback as possible. As I lose weight I want to make sure I lose inches in troubled areas and tone up as well as lose weight, for example the stomach. Basically do not want to be a person who loses a lot of weight but still has areas where not much a change occurs and I look disproportionate. I do cardio and light weight training and enjoy power yoga when I can make it to class and have done pillates. If I exercise 5 days a week (usually more like 3 or 4), what would be the best way to exercise? For example, should I only do cardio for 3 days and do light weights and cardio the other 2, do a yoga or pillates class 1 day and full cardio 2, and weights and cardio the other 2?
