Advice with losing inches, not weight? Well, if I lose weight that would be good, but I need to lose a few inches off my torso and legs. My case is not about looks, but because I need my body to be slim in order to fit in a regular work uniform (most asians are very slim, somewhat skinny, and I'm not). I need to do this in two weeks, and I don't take any pills (like phentermine and stuff like that). Any natural way to do this, any kind of diet I should follow, some sport I should start practising in particular to help me with this? Thanks in advance you guys.
difference between losing weight and inches? i am losing weight, but i havent lost inches? am i doing something wrong? should i be doing more cardio? are completely different and should i be doing more weight training? help? also i am trying to lose the inches from my waist and hips... right now i am just doing cardio, elipitical 3 times a week for 30 minutes, and walking 2 miles everyday.
losing inches but not weight...why? Iam 5'8, 185 pounds. I have only lost 5lbs in 2 months! But iam losing inches......how is that possible. I work out very hard 5-6 times a week and eat 5 small meals a day and the daily calorie intake to lose weight. What is going on, iam so ready to give up. I want to lose another 20 in 3 months but so far that is impossible at this rate. Can anyone tell me why i might be losing inches and not fat and if it really matters about weight?
Can lose inches without losing weight? Okay, so I and 5'7 and I probably weigh somewhere between 120-125 pounds. I am also 17 years old. I was wondering if I can lose i inches off my stomach, thighs, and arms, without losing weight. What would it take for me to do this?
What is the difference between losing weight and losing inches? Can ssomeone please tell me what the difference is between losing weight and losing inches. I was advised that working out on the treadmill loses inches and not weight but isn't that the same thing? Also what are Cardio machines?..does a stepper count as a Cardio machine? Thanks ;o)
What is the difference between losing weight and losing inches? I've been working out and I've lost 6 lbs, and I notice a significant weight loss and saw some loss of inches in my waist; and I was going to go to a spa and I wanted to get a "European Body Wrap", and they have said that the body wrap doesn't make you lose weight, it just gets rid of inches. So what is the difference? I thought by losing weight you also lost inches, I didn't think they were two different things.
Losing Weight, NOT JUST INCHES? I'm thinking I'm not doing something right. I walk 1-5 miles a day (depending upon day), go to the gym 3x/wk and do treadmill, bike 1-3 miles at a very fast pace, and then swim a mile/56 lenghts. I even walked a 26.2 mile marrathon in September without issue. Here's the thing: I am NOT losing weight!!! I've lost inches, and my cholestorol levels have gone down 30 points (it's very high). I need the encouragement of looking at the scale and seeing the #s go down. My routine is to do 46 gms protein shake 6 a.m., omelett around 11:30, snack at 1pm, dinner around 5:30 (varies) and snack around 8pm (peanuts/fruit/nofat pudding). My BMI is still around 38 and I don't know what else to do! Any suggestions? thank you for your responses. The BMI # I got while filling in internet questions to 'buy my diet' websites. I used to be at a healthy weight, but then had 5 jaw surgeries (yes with jaws wired) over the last 3 years. The liquid dieting caused my system to be screwed up and I wound up gaining 60lbs once I could eat food. Here's the thing - I am for the most part vegetarian I'll eat chicken, eggs, and some white fish. The doctor said it's because my Cortisol levels were high and things would level out after my body stopped hording thinking I was starving myself... that was 8 mos ago. This weight is depressing. I know I'm getting healthier, and I enjoy working out as much as I do, it's just seems to be taking forever for results. I've been doing the additional workouts since January (the 3xs/wk ones)

im losing weight but not inches...? ive been on a diet for about 2 weeks now. and i do cardio 2-3 times a week and strength training 3-4 times a week. im also in gymnastics i have 1 hour of it on tuesday and 30 min on sunday. so far i've lost about 4 pounds. two pounds each week. i havent lost any inches tho. is it too soon to lose inches? im not sure, i just know that some people have said they lost inches before they lost weight so i thought thats what was gonna happen. haha i'm not sure. i just wanna know if i'm ever gonna lose any inches. my goal is to lose 4 inches around my waist, like 6 around my hips, and maybe a few around my thighs. and i only need to lose about 15 more lbs.
Losing Inches?? Here's the story: I was at 105 pounds with 32 inches. Now I'm at 130.5 pounds with 35 inches. I want to lose the weight I gained, and be at the same 32 inches I was last time. I was riding my bike for about an hour each day, and doing 30 sit ups after every meal. Unfortunately, I won't have time for bike riding, because I'm going to be incredibly busy this summer. If I lose weight, and do the sit ups, will I be at 32 inches?? Right now, I'm not losing weight(trying to...not working out), and doing sit ups. It looks to me like my stomach area is getting bigger...what the heck??! Also, I have the "thunder thigh" thing goin' on. And I hate it. I'm taking a "gym" class, and the coach is making us lift weights. I do about 50 pounds, two sets of eight. Is this too much?? I've noticed my legs are a big less jiggly, but I don't want them to be big. I want them to be thin and not jiggly...it really bothers me...How can I solve this problem?? I'm 5' 1 & 3/4" I don't eat fast food, fried foods, I rarely eat candy, I don't drink soda or coffee...I eat quite healthy
why am i not losing weight/losing inches? i have been working out for almost 3 weeks straight now, going to the gym every single day for at least an hour. Im doing cardio for 45 min and weights the rest of the time. I already eat pretty healthy and im not on any drugs that would prevent weight loss or anything like that. Why am i not losing weight and why am i not seeing results?

Losing weight..losing inches!? I am currently trying to lose inches on my stomach...and just have a better physique. How can I lose those extra inches on my stomach at least 2, i know crunches will do it...but other than that..i have about 4 months!
Why am I losing inches but not weight? Since September, I have adopted a vigorous workout program (4-5 times a week, elliptical for 30 min at 7.5 mph and recumbent bike for 30 min, heart rate on both usually btwn 180 and 195) and have been eating a lot healthier than before. My clothes feel a bit looser and everyone tells me I am looking skinnier, but I have not lost a single pound! Am I working out TOO hard? Am I failing to lose weight and just building muscle I don't really want? I really want to lose about 20 pounds and I am discouraged that my months of exercise and diet are not working.... Do I need to stay at a certain heart rate to lose fat/weight? Does having too high a heart rate during exercise impede weight loss? Also, I do the elliptical and bike each at a resistance of 5...do I need to do these machines at lower resistance do lose weight and burn fat as opposed to just turning fat into muscle? I really want to burn some fat/pounds, not just gain muscle!
Why am I not losing weight or inches? Any SENSIBLE ideas? I am a45 year old female who weighs 159lbs and I'm 5'6" and a UK size 14. I have been going to the gym for the past six weeks, three mornings a week, walking 6.3kmh for 40-60 minutes, recliner cycling for 20minutes at 78-83rpm acheiving 4km in approx 12-20minutes and then a short regime of weights for arms, legs and shoulders and then swimming thirty lengths of a 20 metre pool. I also go to an hour of Pilates one hour a week to tone up. I haven't reduced my calorie intake ASWELL as doing this exercise as I have yoyo dieted for years and what to get off that treadmill. This time I wanted to reduce by upping the exercise. I wear a heart rate monitor and know I don't cheat so why aren't I losing weight or inches? Any ideas? Thank-you.

What is the difference between losing inches or losing weight? I want to know before I do more research.hehe.. I want to lose the inches around my tummy area but can't figure out how to do so.I am 12 and I weigh 80 pounds. But my belly is still popping out a little, kinda like babyfat.
Cutting carbs, running daily and still not losing weight or inches. What is wrong? I am 26 yr old female, 5'7 and 160 lbs. I am trimming down for my wedding in September. I have cut most white carbs and switched to whole wheat. I have also added low fat proteins in all my meals. I am running about 2 miles/30min a day. Although I am seeing a change in muscle, I am not losing weight or inches. What am I doing wrong?
Losing Weight/Losing Inches. need help!!? i'm 14 years old. barely 5'1''. 140-something pounds. and i'm estimating like 35-40% body fat. i'm a size 11 or 13 in jeans. and a L or XL in shirts. my goal is to get down to about 120 pounds by the end of january. and then ultimately get down to about 110 pounds, a size 7 in jeans, and like a medium in shirts. i need all the help i can get with acheiving this goal...like: what are the best exercises to do? how long should my workout be? how many days per week should i workout for? what foods should i AVOID? what foods should i eat more of? what are some good ways to overcome cravings (especially for halloween candy/thanksgiving dinner/christmas cookies)? how can i tone/slim my thighs/stomach? what are some natural ways to boost metabolism? how can i train for the physical fitness test? we have to run an 8 minute mile, do like 35 crunches, and do 10 push ups. as of now: i run a 10 minute mile, can do about 25 crunches, and like 5 push ups. sad, i know. thanks!! all answers are appreciated. but please DO NOT give me the name of some expensive diet or some diet pill 'cause 1.) i cant afford it. and 2.) i'm not gonna do that to my body!!
Is losing inches, better or just as good as losing weight? I joined the gym and had been working out really hard. I have been eating healthy, and drinking water. I only lost two pounds, since September but I have lost inches. I am not going to give up, just keep working out 3 days a week and every weekend for an hour and half. I do a combination of weight lifting and cardio. What more can I do? What am I am wrong?
Losing Weight, but what about waist inches? Hi again I have a new question. I have always had a 28 in. waist and 36 in hips. And I have always been in my healthy weight class for 5'7 (usually somewherer between 125-138 lbs.) And I know my BMI and boyd fat percentage is healthy. Here is my question: Even though recently I have been losing weight (I am down to 121 lbs) I do not know if my waist size has decreased (if I have lost any inches). Could it be I just cannot, and 28 inches is just my body's minimum? I havent been able to measure it as I do not have a tape measure, but I think I notice my waist curving in more and developing a slight hour glass figure, slight though. Do you think that means I have dropped a few inches? I would like to get down to a 26 inch waist, and I am wondering if that is even possible for me since at my normal healthy weight I have always had a 28 inch waist. Could someone please let me know if based on my description it might be I have lost an inch or two? Also, if not, what specific exercises can I do to lose an inch or two? Thank you. I just want to know out of curiosity, as it seems most women have a 26 inch waist if they are healthy, and I don't know many people with a 28 inch waist. Lol
losing inches but staying the same weight? im losing weight on my hips and ive lost 1 off my thigh one off my arm and calf but im still the same weight i dont get it plz help me out someone
Why do you lose inches without losing weight? My friend called me panicked yesterday and I didn't know what to tell her, so here is her problem: Since early September she has been working out a lot (30 min. on elliptical, 30 on recumbent bike) and eating healthier. Everybody tells her she looks much skinnier and her clothes are noticeably looser on her. She promised me she wouldn't weigh herself as she's had eating disorders in the past, but yesterday she stepped on a scale only to discover she hasn't lost a single pound? What gives? Thanks!
Need help losing weight & inches by march 31? I have until Mar 31 to fit into my prom dress that fit when i bought it last month, but now is 1 size to small. I've been trying the Low-Carn diet, but it hasn't been working. I've also had a knee injury within the last month, so running, extensive walking, and elliptical training aren't completely out of the question, but I'm worried about the effectiveness of the limited activity. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!
Ive lost 30 pounds already but was wondering how i could lose inches without losing weight? I mean i go swimming couple times a week and ill be starting to play tennis..( im fasting now though ramadan ) But after i will be...i mean what exercises i.e toning up exercises can slim areas without having to do strenuous workouts? im 5ft 3 and now weigh around 119 pounds..but for 119 pounds ive still got meat around the buttocks thighs and love handles.
Losing weight but not losing inches? I started off at 196 pounds just before Xmas and now I'm 182. I'm happy about it but my waist is the same measurement as it as before and so are other areas (my hips, thighs). I work out 5 times a week, eat in moderation (no more than 1900 calories a day and no junk food, not even soda), drink 8 glasses a day, and get plenty of sleep. Though everyone comments that I am looking much more smaller now, the inches is telling me a different story. I want to be down to 150 by mid-May but what if I still have the same measurements? :( PS: I am 5'7", medium-large frame, very busty on top, and got big hips. I currently wear a size 10-12 (when I started I was a 16). Here's my week at the gym... Sunday: Cardio day (40-60 minutes) Monday: Personal Training (60 minutes, cardio and strength training) Tuesday: Cardio day (40-60 minutes) Wednesday: Dance day and some strength training Thursday: Personal Training (60 minutes, cardio and strength training) Friday and Saturday: Rest days On the combo days, it's 10 minutes cardio, 50 minutes strength training. On Wednesdays it's even (45 minutes dance class, 45 minutes on strength training). And every time I work out I do abs work.
Is it possible to lose weight scale without losing inches from your waist? I've lost 4 pounds but my waist has not lost a few inches. Any ideas? Thanks!

I am losing inches NOT weight on the scale... HELP!? So, since January I have lost 13" from around my body and I look/feel slimmer and healthier. I do Bodypump x2 a week, plus 2 other one hour aerobic/toning classes and walk on the treadmill. My worry is that the scales have not changed at all. I know that I am building muscle and that is heavier than fat, but if I see the DR my BMI = obese. He told me I had a big problem with my weight yet I am healthier than I have been for a long time. Help!!!

I am going to Curves, eating right, drinking tons of water, and exercising at home, too. I need to know quick ways to lose it! When I get started losing, then I can maintain it. Losing inches.? I'm 17 years old, 5'4 and weigh about 116-118. I don't want to lose anymore weight, considering that would make me under the average for someone like me. All I'd like to do is lose inches effectively. I do have muscle, I do muscle toning at night (I feel it the next morning, so I know it's working). The problem is, it doesn't show through because of a layer of fat. I'd like to lose merely 1 or 2 inches, but it seems so difficult. I've tried to do cardio at my local gym by riding the bicycle there for about an hour straight and I didn't see or feel any results. I also don't eat fatty foods and I watch my calorie intake and usually stay around 1200-1500 a day. Any advice would be helpful. I'm ready to get rid of this "pudge."
can you lose inches off your hips and waist without losing weight? I mean ive lost 24 pounds im kinda happy with being 125 pounds but i would like to shift some inches off the thighs and hips....could i do this with toning exercises and stretches...my programme now is doing 20 minutes jogging every day...75 sit ups and stretching holding the stretch for atleast 1-2 minutes...i eat around 1000 calories a day...do you think the inches will come off eventually... I know that my diet may seem unhealthy to all of you but i just want to know if i will continue to get rid of some more...
losing inches but not much weight? 5 weeks ago I started a healthy eating and exercise plan to shape up for Christmas. I am trying to stick to 1200 cals per day. I don't count the calories obsessively but I know what I should and shouldn't be eating. I am not depriving myself of the odd square of chocolate and I am eating small and regular meals. Each week I am running outside for 40 mins (twice), doing a 1 hour weight training class (twice) and a 1 hour spin class at the gym (once). I must be doing something right as I am definitely losing inches as my tight jeans are no longer tight. However the scales are only showing a 4 lb loss and this is getting me down. I want to lose another stone but am finding the slow weight loss really depressing. Would really appreciate any ideas to speed things up!!

Losing weight but gaining inches??? I've been doing the Dr Phil Ultimate Weight Solutions and having a lot of luck. I feel better than I've felt in a LONG time. I've been at it for 6 days now. I am nursing my 13 month old son so I've dedicated myself to 1600 calories a day. I went from a standard american diet in excess of 2500 calories a day with no exercise at all. Now I exercise for 20ish minutes a day plus regular house work. I cheated yesterday and weighed myself on day 5 of my new life and I've lost 4 or 5 lbs (hard to tell with my scale). So I decided, what the heck, I'll measure myself. I am UP in measurements by .5 - 1 inch for each section. WHY am I weighing less but measuring bigger??????? Here is my fitday link http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=babygrant
Is it possible to lose inches without losing a lot of weight? I've lost 2 1/2 inches off of my hips and stomach area, yet the scale says I've only lost twelve pounds. Does that sound right to you? Is it possible to lose that many inches without losing a lot of weight? I wansn't overweight to begin with, I just wanted to wear a size 6/8, which fits nicely now. I'm an hourglass shape, by the way. And I'm 5 foot 8

Best way to lose inches and weight? Been working out regularly since October and have a personal trainer. I plan on asking her this as well but want to get as much feedback as possible. As I lose weight I want to make sure I lose inches in troubled areas and tone up as well as lose weight, for example the stomach. Basically do not want to be a person who loses a lot of weight but still has areas where not much a change occurs and I look disproportionate. I do cardio and light weight training and enjoy power yoga when I can make it to class and have done pillates. If I exercise 5 days a week (usually more like 3 or 4), what would be the best way to exercise? For example, should I only do cardio for 3 days and do light weights and cardio the other 2, do a yoga or pillates class 1 day and full cardio 2, and weights and cardio the other 2? Also, do you know of any exercises which will prevent this from occuring? Thanks
losing weight and inches but still have big belly and looks to be getting bigger. How? I eat 5-6 small meals a day, i walk to and from work. I work out with a baIance ball. eat lots of fruits and vegetables and lean meat and a lot of dairy. I also eat protein bars and drink that special k protein water. I stopped eating anything with high fructose corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oil. My pants are starting to become really loose. my shirts feel looser. I lost 15 pounds last month. I can feel my ribs and obliques and pelvic bones more than i did before. But my belly seems to feel the same and sometimes looks bigger. I thought us men had a faster metabolism.
